The game is nominated for being a compact spatial puzzle with strategies aplenty packed into a small, approachable box.
Caps is easy to get on the table, quick to learn, and extremely hard to master- we can already imagine board gaming groups out in the world who’ll get it played 30, 40, 50 times and become unreasonably competitive at it- and love every moment of it. The simple rules and easy flow obscure the fact that the mechanical depth is really there as well. We can already see the layers below us as we’re playing- memorizing opponents cards as they draw them, trying to guess at their bets based on which actions they’re prioritizing and then trying to sabotage it. We’re excited to see more of it, and hope we’ll get good enough to appreciate all the layers of this wonderfully crunchy game.
