In this 2-player 4X game, players dynamically build the board while trying to develop their cities and exert control over the shared island. Each turn is a choice between production and island control, with conflicts resolved by wagering resources. But ultimately, there can be only one victor.

Yield is nominated for the fascinating way the game handles a one-on-one dudes-on-a-map -style showdown as a primarily economic affair. As you build your map and place your towns, you’re always looking to create long chains that maximize output - and in the process you’re creating vulnerabilities for when the opposing armies move in.
The turn structure is a wonderful twist as well - as the different types of turns snake back and forth, a strategic player will see the windows opening and closing for different types of actions, and can in turn lay plans to exploit those windows.
In all, Yield is a worthy successor to its genre, honoring its legacy while bringing new ideas to the table.
